Anon1: What is…
I was using a general statement when trying to get my point across. I’m not a bigot. It isn’t wrong to stand up for what you believe in. To also add, I’m not the huge conservative king either. Is it so conservative and bigoted to stand up for something that you strongly believe Isn’t right no matter what the circumstances?
Nowhere in my comment did I say that you were a bigot or a conservative king. I did say that the general statement is extremely problematic, especially when discussing sensitive and triggering issues like incest. Supporting what you believe in is not a conservative concept (in fact, it has no political affiliation whatsoever). However, fighting for something you believe in no matter what the circumstances is just as problematic as the original statement. A perfect example stems from the issue of abortion. If you are anti-choice, is it okay for you to support the denial of a woman’s right to abort a fetus even if she was raped or knows that carrying out the birth would indefinitely kill her (and even possibly the baby)? Some people think so, but I don’t. Circumstances do matter and right and wrong is relative. That is the point I was making.
